Ronnie "Harry" Markham, 60, 011 Beech Ave., Boxholm, died Wednesday at his home of a gunshot wound. He was born Aug. 9, 1940, in Belmond, the son of Harry and Irene (Johnson) Markham.
He was a 1959 graduate of Grand Community High School in Boxholm and served for many years with the Iowa National Guard. He worked for Percival Scientific in Boone, Hoffman-LaRoche in Ames, and retired as a truck driver from Fareway Stores, Inc. of Boone. His hobbies included golfing, bowling, watching sports, and working puzzle games.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother-in-law, Richard Krause. Survivors include his mother of Boone; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Nancy Markham of Colona, Ill.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Karlene Krause of Fraser, and Pauline and John Fisher of Pilot Mound; and five nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, with the Rev. Teri Lin Elder officiating. The body will be cremated following the service and burial of the cremains will be in Pilot Mound Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
