Mildred Josephine Reese, 96, a resident of the Eastern Star Masonic Home, Boone, died Tuesday at the home of respiratory failure. She was born Feb. 11, 1905, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Oscar and Alice (Peterson) Fallstone. She married Evan Richard Reese, Jr.

She was a lifetime resident of Dallas and Boone counties and worked for 29 years at the Woodward State Hospital School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Boone and was active in the Anna Circle and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Rebecca Lodge and the A.A.R.P. of Boone.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Alice Gwen Stock; one grandson, David Charles Stock; four brothers, Carl, Edward, Sidney and Wesley Fallstone; and one sister, Esther Simonton. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Milton Sr. and Mary Reese of Beaufort, SC; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Shirley Fallstone of Vancouver, WA; and one son-in-law, Robert Stock of Mingo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, with the Rev. Dean Fullerton officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. when the family will be present to receive friends.

Memorials may be given to the family.
