Kenneth R. Wisecup, 81, Boone, died Wednesday at his home of respiratory failure. He was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Marcy Township, the son of Lester Lee and Flossie Ione (Bundy) Wisecup. He married Helen Laurel Knox Aug. 8, 1944, in Boone County.
He attended school in Boone County and lived his entire life in Boone County. He farmed in Marcy and Cass townships and also owned a truck which he used to haul feed for the Woodward Elevator in Woodward from Iowa Falls, Grinnell and Belmond. He enjoyed farming, driving his truck, collecting toy John Deere tractors, going to auctions and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Michael and Sara; two brothers, Torence and Junior; and one sister, Winnifred. Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sandy Wisecup of Boone, Denny and Patsy Wisecup of Ogden, and Terry and Melony Wisecup of Princeton; four daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Wilson of Van Meter, Sande Jackson of Boone, Pam Elsberry of Boone and Sherri and Dave Corrigan of Perry; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Howard and Dorothy Wisecup of Ogden and Jolene Wisecup of Ogden; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary McCoy of Ogden, Darline and Herman Murken of Boone and Maxine and Eugene Nystrom of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Boone Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dean Fullerton officiating. Burial will follow the service.
Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, from 1 to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitation continues Tuesday at the funeral home from 8 to 10 a.m.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
