Shavon Amfahr, 54, 119 South-west Seventh St., Ogden, died Sunday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of a liver ailment. She was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Boone, the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Beghtol) Crandell. She married Craig Amfahr June 24, 1987, in Boone.
She graduated from Boone High School in 1965 and from nursing school at Mary Greeley Medical Center. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at several area nursing homes and hospitals. Her hobbies included cooking, canning, and vegetable gardening.
She was preceded in death by her father; one sister; and two brothers. Survivors include her husband; one son, Derrick LeVake of Milwaukee, Wis.; one step-daughter, Avril Amfahr of Boone; her mother of Boone; four brothers, Tony Crandell of Lamoni, Allan Crandell of Ames, John Crandell of Boone, and David Crandell of Paton; two sisters, April Franksain of Boone, and Marvia Garrido of Spain; and one grandson, Hunter Larson.
The body has been cremated.
A memorial service was held Thursday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, with Elders April Franksain, David Crandell, and Tony Crandell officiating. A private family graveside service and burial of the cremains was held at Bluff Creek Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
