Cheryl Lee Walker, 53, of Boone, formerly of Madrid, died suddenly on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 28, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, in Madrid. Cremation rites will follow the service and a private committal service will take place at a later date.

Cheryl was born on November 5, 1952 in Jamestown, N.D. to Emmett Lee and Madeline Grace Kirkman Brooks. She married Dan Wayne Walker on September 27, 1998 in Chippewa Falls, WI and moved to Madrid, where they made their home. Cheryl & Dan moved to Boone in December of 2004.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Walker of Boone; three sisters, Linda Smith of LaMirada, CA, and Mary Smalley and Carol Snider both of Chippewa Falls; her daughter, Leana Benson of Long Beach, CA; her son, Clayton (Carrie) Benson of Cadot, WI; and four grandchildren, Dorian, Gabriel, Katara and Madeline Benson. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, LeRoy Brooks.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
