Donald Fecht, 56, 102 S. Pilot St., Pilot Mound, and formerly of Boone, died May 29 at Boone County Hospital of respiratory failure.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, with the Rev. Dan Solomon officiating. Burial was in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.
He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Beaver Dam, Wis., the son of Frank and Ruth (Mundt) Fecht. He married Rachael Miller at Springbrook State Park. They were later divorced.
He graduated from Boone High School in 1965. In earlier years, he worked for Grabau Construction and for Oscar Mayer. Later, he worked as a truck driver for Rebel Express and Piggy Back Cartage and drove independently with his brother. He later drove a truck for Boone Ready Mix before retiring early because of health reasons.
He was member of Augustana Lutheran Church. His hobbies included playing cards, watching basketball, reading, listening to music and politics.
Survivors include one nephew; one step-brother, Everett "Tim" McCoy, Jr. of Elkhart; four stepsisters, Holly Larson of Boone, Vicki Lande of Des Moines; Margaret Prestidge of Texarkana, Texas, and Catherine Ford of Pahoa, Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Fecht; and his step-father, Everett H. McCoy.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, was in charge of arrangements.
