Funeral services for Johnnie Ernest Ferrari, 81, of Pilot Mound, Iowa, are Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm with Pastor Tom Lundberg officiating. Burial will be at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden.

Mr. Ferrari went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 17 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Johnnie Ernest Ferrari was born on May 18, 1925, in Fraser, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Floy (Johnson) Ferrari. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Johnnie attended country schools in Lanyon and Pilot Mound. He served in the United States Army at Fort Sills, Oklahoma, for a short period of time during WWII until being called home to care for his ailing father. Johnnie was united in marriage to Mary Jane Gay on October 29, 1960 at Trinity Evangelical Church in Boone. The couple established their home a mile and a half east of Pilot Mound where they farmed their entire lives.

Johnnie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. He enjoyed gardening, eating ice cream cones with family, watching all star wrestling on TV and most of all the coon hunting trips he took with his son, John. Johnnie was always willing to help others and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Ferrari of Pilot Mound; one son, John Ferrari of Pilot Mound; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Brian Terry of Pilot Mound; a brother, Larry and his wife Nancy Ferrari of Pilot Mound; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert "Bob" Ferrari; and a sister, Verna Hall.

Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.

Carson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
