Caroline F. Gliem, 83, of Ogden, Iowa, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 12, 2006, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Richard Boatman will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden.

Caroline Fern Hendershott was born on March 14, 1923, on the farm home near Rippey, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Bertha Mae (Anderson) Hendershott. She attended country school south of Ogden through the 8th grade and graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1941. Caroline was united in marriage to August H. Gliem on June 15, 1941, in Beaver, Iowa. The couple owned and operated Gliem's Newsstand in Ogden for 20 years. She later worked in the library at Iowa State University in Ames for 17 years, retiring in 1993.

Caroline was active in the Harmony Circle at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden and also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Gus Gliem of Ogden, Iowa; a daughter, Sharon Lingren of Ogden, Iowa; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Price, Betty Watson and Claryce Tilley all of Boone, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Carpenter; and two brothers, Francis Hendershott and Merrill Hendershott.
