J Butler O’Donoghue, photographer, Boone, was born in Ireland January 20, 1839, and in June 1854, sailed from Liverpool for America, arriving in this country six weeks later, and was all that time in making the voyage, after traveling around for a while he went to work in Jersey City in the locomotive shops of the New York & Erie railroad, after leaving there he went to Luzerne county, Pennsylvania, where he engaged in teaching, from there he went to Philadelphia where he enlisted in the 7th United States infantry, in which regiment he served or three years, when he was honorably mustered out of service in Wyoming Territory, in Omaha, after leaving the service, he was married to Mrs I B Pike, he has been engaged in the photographic business and is now successfully following that vocation, teaching school at intervals, when his wife take his place in their art gallery
