John Engler, farmer and stock raiser, Sec 20, P O Boone, was born in Switzerland, August 20, 1829, at the age of six he commenced school and continued till the age of nineteen, he then laid aside his books for the purpose of pursuing the avocation of a farmer, and continued the same till 1848, he then emigrated to America, landing at Wisconsin, where he continued farming and in the spring of 1867 he emigrated to Boone county, Iowa, where he bought a fine farm of 200 acres of well improved land, he was married to Miss Mary Tichhouser, January 15, 1858, by this union they have six children: Christian, William, Margaret and John living and Christian and John deceased
