Robert Ortner
Memorial services for Robert Ortner, 65, of Tavemier, Fla., formerly of Waterloo, were Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Tavernier. Following cremation the ashes were flown and interned at sea by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Mr. Ortner died April 19, 1985 at a Miami hospital, following a short illness.
Mr. Ortner was born Dec. 26, 1920, near Dunkerton, the son of Joseph and Josephine Ortner. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 20 years. He then served as a supervisor of ticket scheduling with National Air Line in New Orleans, La., until he retired in 1978.
He is survived by two daughters, Madeline Crosby of Cutoff, La., and Donna Townsend of Key Largo, Fla.; a son, Gary Ortner of Shidell, La.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred R. Ruhoff of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, in 1966. Friends wishing may make memorials to the church of their choice.
