John Reuter, 86, a resident of Black Hawk Co. for 44 years died at his home in Washburn at 11:20 p.m. Sunday.
He was born in Germany in 1839 and married Elizabeth Bellesbach there in 1863. The Reuters came to this country in 1881, residing in Eagle Twp. for 2 years and then removing to Fox Twp., where they settled on a farm.
The deceased had been an invalid for 6 years before his death, living at the home of a daughter, Mrs. H. J. Kauth, Washburn. Children surviving are Mrs. Kauth, Joseph Reuter, Mrs. John Melsch, Peter Reuter, and Mrs. Matt Miller. All but Mrs. Kauth reside in Waterloo. Mrs. Reuter died in 1905.
Funeral services will be conducted in St. Mary's church, Gilbertville, at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
