Peter Gales, 89, Gilbertville, IA, died Monday at 3:15 a.m. in a Waterloo hospital where he had been a patient since Friday. Death was caused by a complication of diseases.
Peter Gales, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Gales, was born Aug. 14, 1845, in Luxembourg, Germany. He came with his parents to the United States when he was 17 years old. After a short residence in Wisconsin, the family moved to Gilbertville. He married Maggie Ambrose at Gilbertville Jan. 22, 1880. Mr. Gales was a carpenter. He was a member of the Gilbertville Immaculate Conception Church.
Surviving are his widow, three sons, Nicholas, Waterloo; Peter N., Gilbertville, and John P., Waterloo; and two daughters, Mrs. Nicholas Meisch and Mrs. N. J. Leis, of Waterloo.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church here, with Rev. W. J. Cremer, pastor, in charge.
