GILBERTVILLE — Norman G. Youngblut, 74, of Gilbertville, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of a heart attack.
He was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Gilbertville, son of George and Rose Schares Youngblut. He married Beverly Jean Schmitz on Nov. 23, 1948, in Gilbertville.
Mr. Youngblut owned and operated the Dew Drop Inn for 25 years and also owned Norm’s Tree Service and had farmed. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a charter member and past commander of American Legion Post 714 of Gilbertville. He also was a charter member of the Izaak Walton League of Waterloo.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Ronald of LaPorte City and Randy of Denver; five grandchildren and a great-grandson; and two brothers, Raymond of Washburn and James of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by: a brother, John.
Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 714. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, where there will be a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
