Terry Wood

Terry Lou Wood, 70, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on May 31, 2020 at Allen Unity Point Hospital, in Waterloo, due to complications from COVID-19.

Terry was born in Waterloo to Robert and Betty (Munford) Wood on May 24, 1950. Terry attended East High, where she graduated from in 1968. In her early 20s, Terry went to work at John Deere, and after 30 years she retired.

Terry loved to play pool league for AMVETS and was a member of the Eagles Club. She also enjoyed fantasy football and was an avid Saints fan. Most of all, Terry loved spending time with family.

Left to cherish her memory are a brother, Thomas (Cindy) Wood of Utah; a sister, Cathy (Keith) Shimp of Waterloo; son, Christopher (Megan) Chris of Waterloo; a daughter, Bobbie (Cory) Hackett of Altoona; two step-sons, Michael (Heather) Derifield of Waterloo (children Riley and Gavin Derifield), and Raymond Derifield of Waterloo (child Isaac Derifield); five grandchildren, Christiahna Chris, Ruby Chris, Anthony Chris, Addison Hackett, and Isaiah Hackett; two godchildren, Sarah (Michael) Headington of Texas and Keneisha (Michael) Parker of Texas; and her beloved dog, Nola.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Mike Derifield.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories. All are welcome to attend the visitation. Following the visitation, a service will be held at 3:00 p.m. where no more than 50 people will be allowed to attend. Please observe social distancing and wear a face mask to the funeral home if possible. Burial will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Garden of Memories. Please direct memorials to the family.
