Rev. Kabeya "Axel" Mukendi

March 16, 1985 - May 10, 2020

The Rev. Kabeya “Axel” Mukendi, 35, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 9, at MercyOne Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born March 16, 1985, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, the 2nd son of Mukendi Biyombo and Mwika Antho. He married Ntumba “Jiji” Kayembe July 30, 2011 in Kinshasa.

He earned a Law Degree from the University of Kinshasa in 2011 and was licensed into the Ministry on December 9, 2018, at the All Nations Community Church in Waterloo. He was employed by Tyson Fresh Meats as a French Interpreter.

Rev. Axel truly loved the Lord, first, and second, his family. He had a heart of gold and spent much of his time helping others. As a Community Leader and Activist, he was courageous and always fought for justice for all people. Rev. Axel wholeheartedly gave the best of himself to God, to his family, to his Church, on his job, and to everyone he met. He will truly be missed!

Survived by; his Wife, Ntumba “Jiji” Kayembe of Waterloo and their Children, 5 year old, Eliel Mukendi Kabeya, 4 year old, Jay Ilunga Kabeya, and 6 month old, Kayembe Dayan Kabeya. Also grieving his death are his Parents, Mukendi Biyombo and Mwika Antho and four brothers and five sisters, all residing in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

His Paternal and Maternal Grandparents preceded him in death.

Services: Due to the COVID - 19 Pandemic a Memorial Service will take place at a later date. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
