Barbara's Obituary
Barbara (Chandler) Boudewyns age 71, died from natural causes January 31, 2020, in the early morning. Family members were by her side.
She was born March 21, 1949, in Waterloo Iowa, daughter of Henry and Beatrice Chandler. Barb graduated from Cedar Falls High School Class of 1967. Her father Henry was process engineer at John Deere in Cedar Falls for 35 years and her mother Beatrice was a dedicated house wife and mother of five.
For Barb, life was much more than the sum of its memories and interactions. She loved all regardless of fortunes or fates. In youth she played with countless friends in the neighborhood around the family home on Grand Boulevard. Barb frequently won endless games of Monopoly situated on the front lawn under a large Pine tree. In her teens she was accomplished at violin and played first chair in the Cedar Fall High School Orchestra. Barb played and danced endlessly to songs of the Beatles in the fashion of the 60’s, certainly, to the chagrin of her parents who at the time preferred the lyrics of Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Barb was strong of spirit and determined to make her own life path. Her wit, great sense of humor, and sharp mind fueled a journey through her life that paved a metaphorical road that was often steep and winding. How wonderful for some of us to have shared portions of that journey with Barb. In recent years she and her daughter, Jennifer, lived together on Rainbow Drive. There, they cared for each other, the family cats, and tended to the routines of life.
Barb is survived by two daughters, Laura (Waterloo) and Jennifer (Cedar Falls); two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Bruhn (Newton, Iowa) and Kathryn Louse Hatch (Formally Tucson, Arizona); brother, Douglas Chandler (Auburn, California) as well as a huge extended family of friends and cousins living largely in the beautiful heartland of America. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William (Bill) Chandler.
Services and memorial for family will be scheduled for Barb’s favorite season, Spring. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please give generously to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
Barb, kind soul, you are greatly missed.
