Magdalano “Mike” Tovar was born on July 22, 1929, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Juan and Feliza (Zuniga) Tovar. Mike graduated from OLVA High School. He served his country in the United States Army.

On January 29, 1955, Mike was united in marriage to Florence Lehman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in Waterloo where Mike worked at Rath Packing and UNI for many years. Mike and Florence recently moved to Minneapolis to be closer to their family.

Mike died at the age of 89, on May 15, 2019, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Pedro, Jesse, and Francis Tovar.

Mike is survived by his wife; three children: Rebecca (Richard Atkins) Tovar, Terry (David) Peña, and Thomas Tovar; four brothers: Manuel, John (Betty), Danny, and Patrick (Marsha) Tovar; two sisters, Bernadene Duenas and Mary Caughron; and five grandchildren.

The burial will take place at Garden of Memories Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion. Please direct memorials to Mike’s family.
