Cecil Leon Sommerfelt, 68, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
He was born August 19, 1950, in Waterloo, son of Lorenze J. and Marilyn A. Pettit Sommerfelt.
He graduated from Waterloo East High 1969. He worked for the Evansdale Public Works for 34 years in the street department since he was in high school.
He liked to repair cars, work on auto body and paint, and build trailers. He had a love for flea markets. As well as camping and fishing. He had a lot of friends since was well known and well-liked guy.
Cecil is survived by four sisters, Lori Ulrich of Clarksville‚ Candice (Marc) Heuchelin of Edgewood, Penny Doty, and Georgia Hovenga‚ both of Vinton; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father; and two uncles, Dick and Danny Pettit.
