Annie L. Smith, age 84, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

She was born August 6, 1934 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, the daughter of Bennie and Willie (Baker) McNealy.

Annie married Clarence James Smith; he preceded her in death.

She was an in-home health care aid and had also worked at John Deere.

Annie was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where she was on the Mother Board. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, and blues music. She always had an extensive vegetable garden and generously gave much of her fresh produce to neighbors and friends.

Survived by her son, Johnnie Earl McNeal of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Keady Johnson of Winstonville, MS, LaTosha (Miguel) Woods of Olive Branch, MS, and Melani McNeal of Olive Branch, MS; two great-grandchildren, Jade and Jaden Woods; eight siblings, Minnie Taylor of Waterloo, William McNealy of Waterloo, Hattie (Tyrone) Wright of Waterloo, Bessie Jeter of Milwaukee, WI, Lucille Peoples of Waterloo, Johnny (Beverly) McNeal of Tipton, TN, Doris Green of Waterloo, and Willie (Nora) McNeal of Clarksdale, MS.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Bennie McNealy Jr.
