Martha McCrea

Martha C. McCrea, 99, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 24, 2018, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

She was born January 31, 1919, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Ernest Seibert and Caroline (Hardin) Seibert. She married Edward L. Kleeman in Chicago, IL. He died in 1961. She married Rev. Earle D. McCrea on January 10, 1970, in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2005. Martha was a church secretary and later a Teaching Assistant for the Cedar Falls Community Schools for many years, after which she retired.

Martha truly enjoyed her large extended blended family and delighted in hearing about their lives and many accomplishments. She was an eager, hands-on “Gommy,” gladly teaching any willing young ones singing, tap dancing, or whatever she could. With them, she assembled countless puzzles, played games, served as chauffeur and even chatted with the babies right on the floor. She was an enthusiastic audience for everybody’s activities. Martha had a thirst for learning and loved music, baking, and sewing. She was especially grateful for any opportunity to be of service to her Lord and Savior through the choir, bell choir and her volunteer work throughout her life. When unable continue other things, she focused on serving the Lord by offering up prayers for those in need.

Survivors include a son, James E. Kleeman (Janice A. Aasgaard) of Cedar Rapids, IA; granddaughters: Cinnamon S. Kleeman (Frederic Deleglise, fiancé), Briar J. Kleeman (Joseph D. Diaz, fiancé) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kori W. Haverstick (Christopher P.) of Lewisville, TX; grandson, Ryan A. Kleeman of Oakland, CA; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn M.
