Julius John Delagardelle

February 4, 1924 - June 18, 2018

Julius John Delagardelle, 94, of Gilbertville, died Monday, June 18, at home.

He was born February 4, 1924, in Jesup, Iowa, the son of John and Irene Huberty Delagardelle. He married Kathryn Weber on June 7, 1944, in Waterloo, Iowa; and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2004.

Julius farmed in the Dewar area for many years.

Survivors include: his son, Rick (Pam) of Cedar Falls; six daughters, Connie (Bill) Malven of Waterloo, Diane (Jim) Frost of Waterloo, Janie (Charlie) Laipple of Cedar Falls, Judy (Larry) Elling of Janesville, Sandy (Gene) Etringer of Waterloo, and Deb (Mark) Thome of Gilbertville; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; a brother Norb (Mary) of Jesup; a sister, Theresa “Tootie” (Peter) Brustkern of Jesup; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Delagardelle of Ames.

He was preceded in death by two sons, John and Larry Delagardelle; a brother, Vince Delagardelle; and a sister, Donna Lutgen.

Services: 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Barclay. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4:30 p.m. rosary and 6 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Memorials: may be directed to Immaculate Conception Church, Bosco System or UnityPoint Hospice.
