Biography--

Wesley A. Jones, age 70, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born December 22, 1947, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Earl J. and Irene L. Hartman Jones. Wesley graduated from Waterloo East High School with the Class of 1966. He also graduated from Hawkeye Technical Institute with an Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Upper Iowa University. Wesley served in the US Navy from March 1, 1968 to December 1, 1971 when he was honorably discharged.

Wesley began his working career as an electrician at Chamberlain Manufacturing. He later joined John Deere & Co. where he worked as an electrician, a maintenance supervisor and retired as manager of procurement services. Wesley was a life member of AMVETS Post 19, a member of the American Legion and had been elected to the Waterloo Optimist Hall of Fame.

He treasured time spent following his grandchildren’s sports activities and sharing dinner each Sunday with his Mother at her home. Wesley volunteered as a foster home for Border Collie Rescue of Minnesota and also enjoyed working on antique clocks, woodworking, bowling and fishing.

Survivors include his son, Matthew (Christine) Porter of Janesville, IA; six grandchildren: Alex, Aubreigh, Kyler, Blake, Blayne and Keilee; his mother, Irene Jones of Evansdale; three siblings: Grace (Gary) Heit of Elk Run Heights, Leslie (Rosemary) Jones of Arvada, CO and Kathy (Troy) VanHorn of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl J. Jones.

Saturday, June 16, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 723 Washington St., Cedar Falls

Cemetery:
Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo with Full Military honors will be accorded by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the US Navy Honors Detail.
