CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Wilma A. Hansen, 101, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 4, 2018 at Morningside Manor in San Antonio, Texas, where she had lived for the past ten years.

She was born September 22, 1916 in Laurens, Iowa, daughter of Donald J. and Ada (Keck) Handy. She married Harvey I. Hansen on February 2, 1935 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1985.

She graduated from Laurens High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College. She was employed in Food Service at Cedar Falls High School for ten years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: a daughter, Marylln Peterson of San Antonio; three granddaughters, Robin (Ted) Tragus and Ruth Peterson, both of San Antonio, and Carmen Nelson of Altoona; and three great-granddaughters: Sabrina Tragus-Lopez, Beth Tragus, and Olivia Nelson.

Preceded in death by: two daughters, Karen Henriksen and Betty Hansen; and a granddaughter, Cindy Deuser.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11 at First United Methodist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Wilma was very active in her church as a Sunday School teacher, with the youth group, and the women’s program. She was active in Girl Scouting, PTA, and a member of the Sartori Hospital Auxiliary. She participated in the community meals program and was an election officer into her eighties.
