Gerald Condon, 85, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 5, at home of natural causes.
He was born September 2, 1932, in Waterloo, son of Carl and Claire Kane Condon. Gerald graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1950 and attended American Technical School in Des Moines.
Gerald married Dorothy A. Shimek on Sept. 29, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church, Waterloo. He worked at Rath Packing Co. for 11 years, then Chamberlain Manufacturing, and continuing to United Hydraulics, Waverly. He then worked at Deere & Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1992. Throughout his working career, he was a loyal union member.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Monica (James) Stern of Phoenix, Ariz., Maribeth (Darwin) Boelts of Cedar Falls and Judith (Michael) Wightman of North Liberty; three sons, Joseph Condon of Walnut Creek, Calif., John (Teresa) Condon of Decorah and David (Cindy) Condon of Waterloo; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and husbands: Patricia (Raymond) Craft and Norma (Jerry) Reuter. Five brothers: Eugene, John, William, Richard and Donald Condon
