Leland "Lee" Engen

June 9, 1937 - April 25, 2018

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Leland “Lee” Engen, 80, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his home.

He was born June 9, 1937, in Decorah, Iowa, son of Charlie O. and Esther (Landmeyer) Engen. He married Marlene Schroeder on May 14, 1960 in Decorah.

He graduated from Decorah High School, served in the U.S. Army and was employed with John Deere, retiring in 1995. He was active in the UAW, serving in various capacities, and was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: his wife of Cedar Falls; a son, Jason Engen of Shell Rock; a daughter, Heidi Engen of Cedar Falls; three grandsons, Cody Engen, Alonte Boone, and Christian Engen Carter; a brother, Rich Engen of Central City; and two sisters, Betty Haltmeyer of Traer, and Helen Ramsey of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a son, Scott Graham Engen; two brothers, Hank and Charles Engen.

Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Monday, April 30 at Nazareth Lutheran Church with inurnment at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 29 at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and also for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice, Nazareth Lutheran Church, or Western Home Foundation.
