Biography--

Sharon Kay Bowling died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.

She was born November 4, 1941, in Waterloo, the daughter of Henry and Orphia M. (Meyer) Dumler. Sharon married Robert Bowling June 19, 1965 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Sharon taught elementary school in Evansdale, Cedar Rapids, and first grade at Lincoln School in Cedar Falls, retiring in 2005. She loved volunteering at Lincoln School after she retired. Sharon was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Pi Tau Phi Sorority and its scholarship committee. She loved being with her family and friends, walking, gardening, and baking, along with traveling with her friends.

She is survived by one son, David (Deborah) Bowling and one daughter, Jennifer (Stuart) Barry, both of Cedar Falls; by four grandchildren: Lauren and Ryan Bowling, and Jacob and Abby Barry; and by one brother, Gary (Judy) Dumler, of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Dennis Dumler.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
