Biography--

Mary Lou Smith, 80, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at home on Friday, April 6, 2018, following a lengthy illness.

Mary Lou was born March 5, 1938 in rural Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert C. and Helen M. Shupe French.

She married Harry A. Smith on April 4, 1953 in St. Ansgar, Iowa; he died February 15, 2008.

Mary Lou worked in the JC Penny stock room retiring in 2000 after 30 years.

Survivors include two sons, H. Bruce (Mary Lee) Smith of Center Point and Dan (Phyllis) Smith of Washburn; a daughter, Deborah Smith of Waterloo; eight grandchildren: Klint, Keith, Heather, Brandy, Travis, Brooke, Nicholas and Laura; 17 great-grandchildren; and her sister Ardith (Wayne) Heins of Waterloo.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Michael; and a sister, Patricia.
