Jesup, Iowa – Dorothy Marie Niichel, 91 years old, of Oregon City, OR and formerly of Jesup and Waterloo, IA, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Avamere Rehabilitation Center, Oregon City, OR, of natural causes.

Memorial visitation will be 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA. Graveside committal services will be 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA.

Dorothy Marie Niemann was born February 8, 1927, in Fairbank, IA, the daughter of Edward Niemann and Kathryn Ann (Wilson) Niemann. She graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1945. On June 1, 1949, she was married to Earl Niichel. They later divorced. Dorothy was a social person and enjoyed playing bridge. She was a great decorator and always looked forward to going to the cabin on Lake Delhi. Dorothy was formerly a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA, before moving to Arizona and Oregon to be closer to family.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Steve (Nancy Coyote) Niichel of Patagonia, AZ, and David Niichel of Forest City, IA; one daughter, Joy McGrane of Clear Lake, IA; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dolores Conrad of Brandon, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by one grandson, Chad Niichel; by two brothers, Raymond Niemann, and Lawrence Niemann; and by two sisters, Daphine Niemann, in infancy; and Imelda “Mel” Bohling.
