Floyd Wayne Gerholdt was born on February 19, 1945 to Floyd and Helena (Fredricks) Gerholdt in Waterloo, Iowa. He spent his childhood in Waterloo and graduated from West Highschool. Following his graduation, Floyd went on to serve our country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in May of 1969.

He met the love of his life, Diane Peterson, and the two were married on April 12, 1969 spending 48 wonderful years together. He worked as a truck driver and warehouse worker for many years at Sysco before retiring in October of 2000. The family later moved to Des Moines before settling in De Soto, Iowa.

Floyd Gerholdt enjoyed pitching horse shoes with his father and then after his death, with the rest of the family. He also was a member of many bowling leagues, enjoyed spending time with his family, and playing with his children and grandchildren.

Floyd Wayne Gerholdt died on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Kavanaugh House in Des Moines at the age of 73 surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Floyd is survived by his wife; his son, Jeff (Jenny Kasier) Gerholdt of Des Moines; his daughter, Andrea (Michael) Garcia of Des Moines; one brother, Roger (Dixie) Gerholdt of Buckingham, Iowa; three grandchildren: Jasmine Garcia, Michel Garcia, and Xander Gerholdt.
