Obituary for Jerry Louie Peters

Jerry L. Peters 80, of Waterloo, died March 28, at New Aldaya Lifescapes-Lutheran Home. He was born March 4, 1938, in La Porte City the son of Louie and Esther Edmonds Peters. He married Norma Jackson in 1959, in Minnesota. They later divorced. He then married Sherrie Russell in July 1992, at Sacred Heart Church.

Jerry was employed as a laborer with John Deere for 41 years. He retired in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Sherrie of Waterloo; two sons, Gary (Laura) Peters of La Porte City and Jimmy Peters of Anthony, Fla,; a stepson, Eric Russell of Waterloo; a daughter, Karen Peters of La Porte City; two brothers, Larry Peters of Illinois and Ronnie Peters of La Porte City; two sisters, Pat Sparks of La Porte City and Velda (Verland) Brown of Aurora, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Alexis McGrane, Chasity Peters, Austin McGrane, Andrew McGrane, Trevor Weber, Tyson Russell, Tiyanna Russell, Taylor Russell, Trystin Russell, Jake Austin, and Josie Weber; and seven great-grandchildren, Daniel, Oliver, Ava, Owen, Kennery, Lincoln, and Annamarie.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, La Vern Peters and a brother in infancy; and a stepdaughter, Misty Kay Russell Newell.

Services: 10:30 Thursday, April 5, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Visitation 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the funeral home.
