Paul Stanley Surovy was born May 7, 1931 to Felix and Mary (Mestenik) Surovy in Canada where he spent his childhood. When he was a young adult, he moved to Montana to begin his life in the United States.

Eventually, he moved to Iowa and met the love of his life, Sharron Dalton. The two were married on December 30, 1959 in Waukon and spent 56 years together before Sharron’s passing in 2015. Paul spent his years working as a shop supervisor at Warren Transport and retired from the company after 46 years of service. He touched many lives while he was working and made a connection and impact on everyone that he worked with.

Paul and Sharron raised five children together and he is remembered as being a hardworking man who always provided for his family. Paul Surovy enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his lawn mower, gardening, and will be remembered for the great vegetables that he was able to grow.

He also enjoyed spending time with his children and was always there for his children as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Paul Surovy was an extremely caring individual and will be greatly missed.

Paul Stanley Surovy died on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Cedar Valley Hospice home surrounded by his family at the age of 86.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Sharron; and by two brothers, Walter and Joseph Surovy.

Paul is survived by three sons: William Surovy of Waterloo, David (Shelly) Surovy of Evansdale, Robert (Angie) Surovy of Dunkerton; two daughters: Mary Surovy of Waterloo, and Paula (Rob) Thome of Raymond; one brother: John (Sharon) Surovy of British Columbia; six grandchildren: Jeremy Surovy, Jamie (Lindsay) Surovy, Sarah Thome, Samantha Thome, B.J. (Sarah) Papenheim, and Jennifer Lane; and five great grandchildren: Kayden, Kamryn, Teagen, Jordan, and Owen.
