Obituary for Robert J. Knipp

Robert Joseph Knipp, 82, of Raymond, Iowa, died Thursday, February 22, 2018, at his home, of Alzheimer’s.

He was born August 8, 1935 in Gilbertville, Iowa, son William J. and Clara M. Schmitz Knipp. He married Kathryn L. Burger in 1955 in Waterloo; and later divorced. He married Carolyn Sturtz in Waterloo in 2001.

Bob attended Immaculate Conception High School, graduating in 1953. He worked numerous jobs including Sears for 29 years and was owner and operator of Knipp Cabinet in Raymond.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Raymond and Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survived by: his wife; eight children, Debbie (Jim) Thome, Dan Knipp both of Raymond, Tom Knipp of Salem, Mass., Patti (Neil) Schmit, Mike (Margie) Knipp, both of Jesup, Angie (Jim) Junk of Waverly, Steve (Lisa) Knipp of Fairbank and Chad (Melissa) Knipp of New Hartford; three step-daughters, Danielle Hilleshiem and Michele (Mark) Kessler both of Arizona and Theresa (Bob) Borcherding of Cedar Falls; a brother, Jim (Nancy) Knipp; two sisters, Lou (Erv Wehling) Collins and Mary Lou (Rich) Roethler; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Marvin, Jackie and Donald; two grandsons, Nick and James Junk.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb.27 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Raymond. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a Catholic Order of Forester rosary at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
