Barbara Kaye Walker (1939-2018)

WATERLOO, IOWA – Barbara K. Walker, 78, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, January 30, 2017 at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born September 13, 1939, in Parkersburg, Iowa, the daughter of John and Shirley Jean (Stickley) Simon, and later adopted by Norman R. Walker.

Barbara graduated from high school in Sioux City and attended Gates Business School. She worked as an insurance agent for Steve Showers Insurance.

She is survived by three brothers: Randy (Shirley) Walker of Waterloo, Roger (Sherry) Walker of Cedar Falls, and Brian (Rhonda) Walker of Des Moines; a sister, Cindy (Monte) Bonorden of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Walker of Cedar Rapids; and special friends, Jeff and Allyson Armstrong of Waterloo and Anna Armstrong of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dr. Steven Walker; and a sister, Jacqueline Rae Simon.

Family Directed Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo, with visitation for one hour prior to the service. She deeded her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
