Biography--

Cynthia N. Hershberger, 88, of Waterloo, died at Covenant Medical Center on Thursday, January 18, 2018.

She was born on September 7, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of MacArthur and Marjorie Newell Noyes. Cynthia graduated from high school in Dayton, Ohio; and received a BA in education from Monmouth College in 1951.

She married David Hershberger on March 17, 1951, in Arlington Heights, Illinois; he preceded her in death on February 8, 2012.

Cynthia was as an elementary education teacher at Castle Hill School for many years.

She was a lifelong member of Bethel Presbyterian Church that is now Unity Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.

Cynthia was very artistic. She and her husband enjoyed crafting and donating their work to church bazaars, and Friendship Village Auxiliary. Cynthia loved to travel with Dave in the couples’ motor home. They loved to winter in Florida with their snowbird friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Jeff) Gann of Dunkerton and Linda Dolan of Madison, Wis.; a son, Jeff Hershberger of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren: Levi Kinsel of Palo, Margie (Bryan) Harper of Palo, Ryan Dolan of Madison, Wis., Josh (Merrideth) Gann of Greenfield, Wis., and Spencer (Stacey) Gann of Waterloo; six great-grandchildren: Claire Gann and Emily Gann both of Waterloo; Olivia Gann and Jackson Gann both of Greenfield, Wis., Beckham Harper and Declan Harper both of Palo; and a brother-in-law, Charles James of California.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, David; a sister, Marcia James; and a son-in-law, John Dolan.
