Biography--

Marjorie L. Robinson, 94, of Friendship Village in Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital on January 6, 2018.

She was born on June 1, 1923 in Hancock, Iowa, the daughter of William McKinley and Florence Clair Galbraith Lee.

Marge graduated from Hancock High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in child development from Iowa State University in 1945.

She married William H. Robinson August 25, 1946 in Hancock, Iowa, on her parents' farm; he preceded her in death on October 2, 2009.

After graduating, her first job was working at National Child Research Center in Washington D.C.; she and her husband owned and operated Robinson Engineering for 32 years, she retired in 1993. She also worked as Welcome Wagon Hostess and an interviewer with Black Hawk Research Bureau.

She was an active member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church, where she was part of the First United Methodist Women, past treasurer, circle chair, had taught Sunday School, and was a part of the visitation team. She was a past member of PEO and the Association of University Women. She volunteered at church, with Golden Apple and with the Americana Care Review Committee. Marge was also very active in the Cedar Valley Historical Society.

She enjoyed tent camping with her family, playing bridge, solving word scrambles, bowling, playing pool, and cribbage with her husband and grandchildren. Marge was the publicity chair for the Friendship Village annual brunch, a BINGO volunteer, and was currently the resident coordinator for the third floor of Village Place.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Gary) Brown of Cedar Falls; a son, Michael (Kelly) Robinson of Duluth, MN; four grandchildren: Robin (Joe) Hockey, Nicole (Doug) Miner, Ben (Katy) Robinson, and Erin (Ryan) Anderson; eight great-grandchildren: Nicholas Hockey, Jessica Hockey, Weston Miner, Emily Miner, Leah Robinson, Jonah Robinson, Taylor Zumberge, and Jack Anderson; a brother, William Lee of Council Bluffs; and four sisters-in-law: Pat Lee, Mary Lee, Helen (Virgil) Caldwell, and Hazel (Joe) Mack.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Robinson, and three brothers: Donald Lee, Wylie Lee, and Robert Lee.
