Biography--

Nellie L. Tyler, 81, of Cedar Falls, died at Martin Health Center of Western Home Communities on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 of natural causes.

She was born on August 12, 1936 in Milan, MO; the daughter of Fred and Ina Myrtle Gray Bernatzki.

Nellie married Eugene "Gene" Tyler on June 14, 1952 in Manchester. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2011.

Nellie worked for Waterloo Industries for 7 years prior to going to work at John Deere in 1975 for 7 years.

She was a member of Trinity American Lutheran Church. She volunteered at Devonshire School during the time her kids were attending. Nellie enjoyed making ceramics, flower gardening, watching the birds and squirrels at the feeders, collecting lighthouses, hummingbirds and Scotties. She especially cherishes the memories camping and traveling with Gene and good friends.

Survivors include her four daughters: Debbie (Russel) Pint of Waterloo, Lorella (Gary) Nagle of Waterloo, Julie (Jim) Uecker of Frederick, MD, and Brenda (Tim) Schelle of Webster City, IA; nine grandchildren: Gary Bush, Dusty (Manila) Bush, Chantel (Dave) Eisen, Carey (Sara) Nagle, Michael (Valerie) Uecker, Steven Uecker, Zachariah Smith, Holly (Cliff Kozerski) Schelle, and Justin (Lani) Schelle; and 12 great-grandchildren: Alanna Bush, Jackson Bush, Carson Eisen, Jonah Eisen, Elyse Eisen, Nolan Eisen, Lyndon Eisen, Henry Nagle, Stella Nagle, Emma Schelle, Archer Schelle, and Cheyenne Belle.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter in infancy, Jeannie Louise Tyler; and two brothers, Errol Smith and Larry Smith.
