March 25, 1941 - December 17, 2017

SHELL ROCK, IOWA – Dale R. Hansen, 76, of Shell Rock, formerly of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Waverly Health Center.

He was born March 25, 1941 in Rochester, Minnesota, son of Melvin and Viola (Schultz) Hansen. He married Karen Belz and she preceded him in death. He then married Gerd S. Cherney.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Journalism and was the farm director at KWWL for 27 years prior to retiring.

DSale is survived by his wife, Gerd; a son, Denny Hansen of Minnesota; two daughters, Lori Cherney Kolthoff (Ken) of Cedar Falls and Tracy Cherney Hansen (Denny); five grandchildren: Teagan Hansen, Hannah Kolthoff, Treyton Hansen, Bryce Kolthoff, and Ty Kolthoff; and a brother, Melroy (Faye) Hansen of Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per Dale’s request, no services are being planned.

Dale was a happy outgoing man, who loved being around people. He enjoyed visiting with farmers, golfing, and target shooting. But most of all, he loved his family and animals. He will be sorely missed.
