Dorothy May Maldzahn

February 26, 1924 - December 16, 2017

GILBERTVILLE, IOWA - Dorothy M. Maldzahn, 93, of Osage, Iowa, and formerly of Gilbertville, died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

She was born February 26, 1924, in Finchford, Iowa, the daughter of William H. and Elizabeth M. Walters Maldzahn. She graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1942 from Finchford High School.

Dorothy worked as a babysitter in the area for many years.

She is survived by two nieces, Patricia (Eddie) Wickham of Osage, and Connie Schipper of Ackley; a nephew, Harlan Weltzin of Cedar Falls; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and William Maldzahn; two sisters, Melda Weltzin and Hazel Maldzahn; nephew, Danny Weltzin; and a niece, Judy Gates.

Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls, with interment in the Finchford Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
