Biography--

Aviation Support Equipment Technician First Class Petty Officer (Aviation Warfare/ Surface Warfare) Craig R. Reuter, 35 who was stationed on the USS Makin Island LHD8 in San Diego, formerly of Hudson, Iowa, died Sunday, December 3, 2017, due to injuries received during a motorcycle accident.

He was born October 30, 1982, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Douglas W. and Elizabeth A. Yocom Reuter.

He graduated from Expo High School in 2001, and joined the United States Navy. Craig was currently serving on the USS Makin Island. During his career in the Navy, Craig served at the Fleet Readiness Center West, Lemoore, CA; USS Nimitz, Everett, WA; AIMD, Corpus Christi, TX; USS Bonhomme Richard, San Diego and the USS John S. McCain, Yokosuka, Japan. He was a member of the FRA Branch 261 Club in Lemoore, CA.

He married Heidi Loucka on May 27, 2006 at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Waterloo.

Craig enjoyed life: his family, his son, friends, smoking a good brisket from time to time and enjoying his motorcycle, even riding it from California to Hudson. He worked hard and played hard. The life in the Navy provided him with great friends, accountability and structure, and the ability to go skydiving over Hawaii. He worked hard and earned the Navy Achievement Medal.

He is survived by his wife: Heidi; his son: Ayden both of Highland, CA; his parents: Douglas and Elizabeth Reuter of Hudson; a brother: Bret Reuter of Hudson; two sisters: Alexandrea (Jeff Colley) Reuter of Vista, Ca. and Faye Reuter of Hudson; maternal grandma: Sharon Yocom of Hudson; maternal grandpa: Craig (Julie) Yocom of LaPorte City; maternal great-grandma: Dorothy Stitt of Reinbeck; and paternal grandma: Darlene Reuter of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandpa: William Reuter, Jr.
