Family Directed Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale.

Cemetery:
Private Family Burial will be held in the Garden of Memories Cemetery Mausoleum.

Biography--

Donald Albert “Don” Stahr, 93, of Evansdale, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his home.

He was born November 20, 1923 in West Union, Iowa, the son of Albert and Minnie (Haller) Stahr. He married Marjorie Ruth Hoepfner on December 11, 1945 in Hawkeye.

He and his wife built, owned and operated the Stahr Motel in Waverly and Stahr Lanes in Evansdale for 22 years, retiring in 1987.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Evansdale; one daughter, Janice Bradfield of Evansdale; three grandchildren: Jamie (Jennifer) Bradfield of Indianola, Jeremy Bradfield of Evansdale, and Jill (Jeremy) Kelly of Des Moines; five great-grandchildren: Brody, Casey, Charlie and Chloe Kelly and Shore Bradfield; and one brother, Dwaine (Irene) Stahr of West Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Esther Heineman and Ella Neumann; and by a son-in-law, Wayne Bradfield.
