Gary Lee Marovets was born June 22, 1948 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Leo Francis Marovets and Myrtle (Frankhauser) Marovets. He graduated from East High School and entered the United States Marine Corps. Gary served in Okinawa during the Viet Nam conflict.

He met his wife, Trudy (Reisner), on December 25, 1970, and they were married May 22, 1971. On August 10, 1972, they were blessed with their first child, Daniel Lee Marovets, followed by the birth of their beautiful daughter, Sandra Ann Marie Christensen on April 25, 1974.

Gary and Trudy enjoyed a wonderful, adventurous, whirlwind life together, having moved over 28 times, traveling extensively, and pursuing their careers…but faith and family always prevailed as most important. Gary also had a passion for boating and enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family and many friends, and his dog, Bayli.

He worked as a Fixed Operations Director in the automotive industry and as an independent consultant. Gary was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church, where visitation will take place on Monday, October 23rd from 4-7pm and services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24th.

Gary is survived by his wife, Trudy, son, Daniel, daughter, Sandra, five brothers and sisters, Jimmy (Diane) Marovets, Bonnie Adams, Nancy Wyant, Robert Marovets, and Dorothy Thomas, three grandchildren, Brady Christensen, Hope Christensen, and Mason Marovets.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Peggy.

Gary will be remembered for his vivacious laugh, optimism, and for the tough love advice and support he gave his family which will give them the courage to carry on.

Memorials may be directed to the family and will be contributed to Gary’s favorite charities.
