Biography--

Della Viola “Vi” Hartley, 90, of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, lovingly slipped into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at home.

Vi was born on June 17, 1927, in Fort Dodge, daughter of William Albert & Della Frances (Sexton) Richardson.

She graduated from Laurens Consolidated High School in Laurens, Iowa. She flew for the Civil Air Patrol securing the borders of Iowa during World War II.

Vi married Milton Evans Hartley on September 4, 1946, in Laurens.

Vi loved and delighted in caring for numerous children throughout her life. She dedicated many years nurturing young hearts and minds in the nursery at Linden United Methodist Church in Waterloo where she was a member.

Survived by: her husband; two sons, William (Christina) Hartley of Oelwein and Kevin (Rina) Eighmey of Mount Juliet, TN; two daughters, Michele (Mark) Wilson of Evansdale and Cynthia Holloway of Elk Run Heights; 10 grandchildren, Amber, Chad, Michael, Melissa, Stacie, Darcie, Brook, Ashley, Dannielle, and Harley; 22 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents; a daughter, Patricia Hansen; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hartley and Dawn Hansen; two great-grandsons, Thomas and Joseph Hansen; a grandson-in-law, Jeremy Thompson; two sisters, Zelma “Sally” Larson and Florence Davis; and three brothers, Harold, Alfred, and Carl Richardson.
