Biography--

Roxalon “Roxie” Stevens, age 88, of Reinbeck and formerly of Hudson, died at Parkview Manor Nursing and Rehab Center on Thursday, September 21, 2017.

She was born on September 28, 1928 in Waterloo; the daughter of Winfield Louis and Irma Mildred (White) Shadman. Roxie attended Lowell Elementary and then Sloan Wallace Middle School; she graduated from Waterloo West High School.

She married Stanley Virgil Stevens on July 19, 1947 at Little Brown Church, Nashua; he preceded her in death on August 18, 1998.

Roxie had worked for Winter Dairy out of high school, she later worked for the telephone company, she was a dedicated mother and housewife, and in her later years she worked at Swiss Colony in Crossroads Mall. Roxie was a very active member at United Methodist Church of Hudson.

Roxie cherished her family, friends, neighbors and church. She was always willing to help. Roxie enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She journaled everyday about her life. Family was very important to Roxie and she loved them dearly.

Survivors include a daughter, JoLee (Ron) Hileman of Saint Peters, MO; a son-in-law, Noel Schmidt of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Karen (Bill) Klinzing, Laura (Jeff) Wangensteen, Rebecca Witikko, Kendal Jones, Eric Hileman, and Alexandra (Nick) Birkemeier; a grandson-in-law, Frank Shink; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Judy) Shadman of Sacramento, CA and William (Lona) Shadman of Waterloo; and two sisters, Randy (Bob) Kapler of Waterloo and Terie (Nick) McNamara of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley; two sons, Rodlee Stevens and Wesley Stevens; a daughter, Kristine Schmidt; a grandchild, Julie Shink; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Klinzing and William Klinzing; and three sisters, Lenora Shadman (in infancy), Sunny Johnson and Winifred Johnson.

Monday, September 25, 2017 at Hudson United Methodist Church: 301 Washington Street, Hudson.

Visitation:
Sunday, September 24 at Locke Funeral Home
