Obituary for Phyllis J. Giblin Burroughs

Phyllis J. Giblin Burroughs, 84, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, September 13, at Friendship Village Lakeview Landing.

She was born March 27, 1933 in Lansing, daughter of Raymond and June Hayes Fink. She married James Giblin November 29, 1952 in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced. She later married Harry Burroughs May 3, 1995 in Littleton, Colorado. He died in 2015.

Phyllis was employed with Allen Memorial Hospital and later with Miller Medical until her retirement.

Survivors include: four sons, Steven J. Giblin and Thomas J. (Marlene) Giblin, both of Waterloo, Larry J. Giblin of Eugene, Oregon and Craig J. Giblin of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Karen Rae Donovan of Aurora, Colorado; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers, Bob (Bev) Fink of Desert Hot Springs, California and Jack (Millie) Fink of Muscatine; and three sisters, Janeen Fink of Cedar Rapids, Shirley (Brent) Darling of Lansing, and Gayle Christ of Eagle Grove.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Jerry and Jim Fink.

Phyllis had an amazing talent of living in the moment and making who she was with feel like they were her most favorite person in the world. She would greet you like she hadn't seen you in years, despite that it had been yesterday. She would cook for you like you have never eaten. And listen to you like you were telling her the most important secret. She was an avid Broncos fan, cook, enjoying sewing, travel and fishing.

Services will be 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation from 2:00 p.m. to service time on Sunday. Entombment will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Mt. Olivet Columbarium.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
