LuVerne L. Reicherts, 93, of Waterloo, died at Friendship Village, on September 10, 2017, of natural causes.
LuVerne was born on June 5, 1924 in Riceville, the son of Joseph Herman & Anna (Worple) Reicherts. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1942. LuVerne served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
LuVerne married Rosemary Meier on Jan. 6, 1947, in Barclay Township. He started work at Standard Oil, and then became Owner/Operator of Family Circle DX from 1970-79, and then the Dispensary Lounge on Kimball for 13 years, retiring in 1993.
LuVerne was member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 700, American Legion #27, V.F.W., served as a trustee for the Waterloo Water Works, former Waterloo city councilman, and was a member of the Elks, Eagles, and Moose Lodge 2082 in Mesa, AZ.
He is survived by: Rosemary Reicherts of Waterloo; five sons: James (Kate) Reicherts of Springfield, MO, Randy Reicherts of Wisconsin, Mark (Martha) Reicherts of Bettendorf, John (Kim) Reicherts of Hickory Creek, TX, and Pat (Patti) Reicherts of Marine On St. Croix, MN; five daughters: Jeanne McGee of Marion, Janie (Marlyn) Hull of Waterloo, Judy (Greg) Kilgore of El Dorado Hills, CA, Joan (Tim) Harringa of Denver, and Jody (Troy) Groen of Burlington; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Reicherts of Waterloo; and two sisters: Vera Mae (Joe) Pfiffner of Waterloo and Bernita Peterson of Dumont.
LuVerne was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Norma Mills; and four grandchildren: twins Mary and Katherine Reicherts and twins Amy and Matthew Reicherts.
