Betty Jean Reichenbacker was born on July 24, 1933, in Iowa City, the daughter of Lloyd and Wilma (Billick) Caughron.

She lived at the Bremwood Lutheran Home in Waverly before joining her foster parents, Dorothy and Wayne Swartzell from Cedar Falls.

On July 28, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Henry Reichenbacker. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2001. Betty was a stay-at-home mother to her eight children. She was a member of Linden United Methodist Church and enjoyed Bingo and spending time with her family.

Betty died at the age of 84 on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her foster parents; three sisters, Louella, Nancy, and Zet Lee; and two brothers, Donny and Lloyd.

Betty is survived by two sons, David Reichenbacker of Evansdale and Bob (Dolene) Reichenbacker of Waterloo; six daughters: Vicki (Tim) Ahrens of Waterloo, Becky (Randy) Ahrens of Sanger, Texas, Connie (Russell) Garkow of Dunkerton, Mary Hay of Cedar Rapids, Lori (Todd) Borwig of Evansdale, and Tracy Gilfillan of Waterloo; a brother, Russ McNabb of Maquoketa; a sister, Ramona Schroeder of Ossian; a foster brother, Donnie Swartzell; and a sister-in-law, Marie Nelson of Gainesville, Florida; twenty grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
