Biography--

Jean Taylor Grinnell, 96, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Hudson, Iowa, died Friday, August 18, 2017, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was born June 16, 1921, in Black Hawk County, daughter of Lloyd J. and Elizabeth "Besse" Bedford Loonan. She married Gene Taylor August 8, 1940 in Hudson. He died June 27, 1994. She then married Darrell D. Grinnell June 19, 1998 in Hudson. He died November 3, 2013 Jean graduated from Hudson High School in 1939 and was president of her class.

She attended Iowa State University. Jean worked for the City of Hudson and Dr. Hesse's office and retired as office manager in 1983 from Dr. Verdyne's medical office in Hudson. She was a charter member of Community Church of Hudson and past president of the Women of the Church, a deacon, and member of the Tuesday Study Club which was very important to her.

She also was a PTA President, Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge of the Odd Fellows, first president of the Hudson Junior Women’s League, member of the Hudson and regional library boards, the Black Hawk County Historical Society and was an Elklette.

Jean is survived by a son, James (Judy) Taylor of Littleton, Colorado; a daughter, Sandi (David) Rogers of LaPorte City, Iowa; three stepsons; a brother, Lloyd Loonan of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a sister, Martha Nation of Cedar Falls, Iowa; four grandchildren; nine great‑grandchildren, and six great‑great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; two brothers, James and Daniel Loonan, and a sister, Ruth Thompson.
