CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – G. Richard “Dick” Beal, 74, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at his home.

He was born March 6, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of Charles and Eleanor (Acheson) Beal. He married Frances L. McNeese on June 30, 1962 in Winchester, Virginia.

He attended West Liberty State College in West Virginia and was employed as a credit counselor and loan officer with John Deere Community Credit Union. He officiated boys and girls high school basketball, high school football, and college football for 34 years, and was a member of Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church.

Survived by: his wife, Fran of Cedar Falls; a son, Wayne (Teresa) Beal of Omaha, NE; a daughter, Leslie (Mat) Edstrom of Minnetonka, MN; five grandchildren: Kelci (Adam) Muehling, Nate Edstrom, Alyssa Beal, Braedyn Beal and Alex Edstrom; a brother, Thomas (Charlotte) Beal of Jefferson City, MO; a sister, Patti (Bob) Carroll of Redding, CA; and two nephews, David (Kim) Beal and Daniel (Dublon) Beal.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, at Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls. Visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Hartman Reserve Nature Center in Cedar Falls.
