WATERLOO, IOWA – Mary Lou McDonald, 89, of Waterloo died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Western Home Communities Stanard Family Assisted Living Center, Cedar Falls.

She was born December 16, 1927, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Herman and Catherine (Bloes) Hinze. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1945 and worked in the office at Rath Packing Co., and then was employed at Wonder Bread Bakery in Waterloo for 20 years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Cynthia) of Waukee and Gary (Vickie) of Waterloo; a daughter, Debra McDonald of Waterloo; four granddaughters: Kassie McDonald, Kendall McDonald, and Kelsey and Erin McDonald; and two great-grandchildren, Kallie and Landon McDonald.

She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; and by a brother, Jerry Hinze.

No services are planned at this time. Her body was deeded to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

She enjoyed walking, reading books and spending time with family. A special thank you is extended to the Stanard Assisted Living and Cedar Valley Hospice staff for their assistance during her final days. She will be dearly missed by all.
